Monday – Making More and More…
…Bunnies!! I am filled with gratitude as I get updates with photos of the production of our Bertie Bunnies. Look at the photos. Aren’t they cute? Both are grey, one is worried (or surprised? you decide) and the other is content.
Do you think children (age 3 and up) will enjoy holding this little bunny? Will Bertie Bunny be a good listener when your child whispers stories in its ears? Bertie can listen and comfort anyone who holds its little body in their arms. Of that I am sure.
I am going to be giving Bertie Bunny away to the first people who buy my book when it comes out. This is my first children’s book. It will be part of a three part series called Maxwell Mouse and Friends. This first book is called How Bertie Bunny Became Brave. It’s a work of Love.
When children start in preschool, crèche or school they might have some worries. Some children could get worried when they need to go somewhere new or try something new. I remember that very well when my own boys were little.
Anxiety is even more common and a bigger emotion for older children. Teenagers and adults also share this emotion which is characterized by feelings of tension, racing heart rate and worrisome thoughts. Do you know what Bertie learns? He learns how to calm his worries by using Mindfulness.
Mindfulness is a type of Meditation practice that anyone can learn. Yes, it’s a practice, not a quick fix. But with steady and consistent repetition, we can learn how to focus and remain calm when strong emotions suddenly arrive.
This book is being illustrated as you read this. My hope is that it will be all done and beautifully printed by the time schools start up after the summer holidays. Of course, I will be offering to do book readings.
So, if you work in a preschool, crèche, primary school or library and you would like to organize a reading where books can be bought by your parents and where pupils can also get a Bertie Bunny to hug, please get in touch with me! Wherever you are in the world!
I am a teacher and have worked in preschools and schools. I teach Mindfulness to students and I see and hear of the benefits. If you want to know more, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
Let’s work together to help promote good mental health. Thank you for spreading the word and sharing widely.
Be well and take care of yourselves and those you love.
