Monday – My Meaning of Mindfulness
Yes, I know, I already wrote about it … here. But this story goes deeper; it’s more personal.
Do you enjoy listening to podcasts? I do. I have a bunch of favorite ones, from comedy to more serious ones. Of the more intellectual ones I listen to, I am often drawn to health issues, be it overall health or mental health in particular. But here’s one that is perhaps less known, but is emotionally at the top of my list, for obvious reasons. It’s produced by our oldest son, Oskar.
Oskar (he is turning 25 this year, omg!!) is a lot like me in the sense that he is interested in education and is juggling many different projects at once. He is part of an international community called Trainers’ Forum and he has run their podcast for 2 years now. He and his co-host talk to experts in education about experiential learning and how to improve one’s training techniques.
During last year’s season, he asked if I wanted to appear on the podcast. I turned him down. I wasn’t ready. But this year, I am. Maybe because I have been acting more brave, using social media a lot more – putting myself “out there”. I know I have to since I am self publishing my book. And since he asked me if I could speak about Mindfulness as used in schools/education, I accepted.
My first children’s book has Mindfulness as a theme. It is something I have been practicing for some years. I know it can certainly have positive results with students. So, if you want to learn more about Mindfulness and how it can be used to help us stay focused and perhaps calmer, I invite you to listen. Both links below will take you to the same podcast. Enjoy. And I would love to hear what you think! Oh, and any podcast suggestions are welcome.
Be well, sweet people, and take care of yourselves and each other.
