Saturday – Substantial Social Smörgåsbord for Storytelling
How do you like all those words beginning with S for Sssssaturday? Yes, I know, pretty silly, but I am sticking to my theme of having a title that starts with the letter of the day. Being consistent is important to me. I can tell that all the small steps towards my big audacious goal of becoming a children’s book author are leading in the right direction. I have to stay on track. My brain is on a daily mission of figuring out more ways to get more people to be interested in the upcoming book. And you know what’s the most important part? Having fun while doing it.
Nowadays, the main way to advertise is by using social media. It’s probably the best way to reach the most people. But since there are so many people on social media, it’s also quite challenging to reach the right ones. Social media can be such a waste of time too. It’s not always easy to find the right balance. This is why it must be enjoyable, and not stressful. And this is where Bertie Bunny and good friends come in. I sent a Bertie Bunny (you have seen these adorable crocheted bunnies I ordered, right?) to my illustrator Kelli. So that one is in Sweden. And recently, another friend of mine is in possession of a bunny as she travels back to the US to see her family and friends. That bunny is equipped with a mask (yes, she made one for him -see the photos below) and she promised me that he will be exploring the Golden Gate bridge and other amazing landmarks. I can’ t wait to see where he goes! He will also accompany me and my family this summer as we take a family trip eastward in Europe.
So, get on Instagram and Facebook, if you like, follow my annika’s books pages there, and you shall get the travel logs and blogs of our jet setting bunny! If you don’t want to be on those platforms and still would like to receive photos of our favorite sightseeing bunny, please let me know if you want to receive the photos to your mobile on Whatsapp, and I shall make sure to update you that way. As the summer weeks go by, it will be a whole smörgåsbord (sandwich spread in Swedish, in case you didn’t know) of delightful photographs.
Oh, one more piece of special news from me to you – I got a more serious job. A paying job, actually. Yes, I was recently approached by the Principal of a school I have previously worked at. I interviewed and am happy to say that they offered me the job of Biology teacher! It’s a maternity leave cover position for almost a whole school year. I am a bit nervous but also very excited. However, this means that I will have less time to bombard social media platforms with book stuff, as being a teacher is very demanding and time consuming. The good news is that most likely our book will be close to if not completely done by the time that job starts in August/September!
That’s all the news from here. Have a beautiful Summer, Sweet friends. Take care of yourselves and each other.
